Bronze Gundog Class
Our Bronze Gundog Class is suitable for dogs of all breeds, although gundog breeds are bred for this work, who have passed our Life Skills course. It is essential to take the Life Skills course first as many of the behaviours required in this course are started.
Do you have a Lab that picks up everything? Or a spaniel who runs widely in every bush? Or you just want to have fun with our dog whatever the breed? Then our Bronze Gundog class is the thing for you!
As with all our training there is a maximum of four dogs per class. This ensures a high level of attention so you and your dog get the most out of classes! And, as always, our training is completely science based and force-free. Meaning we don’t hurt or scare dogs during training.
Unfortunately gundog work is particularly know for harsh handling of dogs with many believing this is necessary to get a good working dog. It is not! Not only can we train gundogs (and all dogs) force-free we can also ensure this training helps their behaviour in day to day, family life too!
This course is designed for anyone with any breed – not just gundogs! Whether you just want to have fun with your dog unlocking their potential, work them in shoots or compete in trial; this course is for you! It is the first of three levels with us focusing on gundog work.
What the course covers
This bronze gundog class really starts the foundations every gundog needs. We mix steadiness training in with a real drive for retrieves all whilst making it fun for you and your dog.
Emailed written notes on exercises covered in class with practice scenarios to do at home or out on walks follow each class.
At the end of the course there is a very low stress assessment to see if your dog is at the required level. If you pass your will receive a Positive Pet Training Bronze Gundog Medal! You would then be eligible to continue training with our Silver Gundog Class.
You should also be at a level, if you wish, to apply for external assessment under the Gundog Trust Graded Scheme Level 1.
